"Soon, it felt like we were both drowning at the bottom of the deepest ocean and there was nothing I could do about it, except watch Joaquin Phoenix frown in a ridiculous hat." This sentence is everything.
My Mom and I thank you so much for sharing your stories and struggles with Alzheimer's. May the Beekeeper kick this disease's ass back to hell!
I've always valued the sharp softness of your insights (that show up in your books and your person)---how you see into the cracks, into the web of individual humans--loved ones and others, making meaning from it all.
That's seriously one of the nicest—and most beautiful—things anyone has ever told me. Thank you, Dixie. You have definitely made my day. I appreciate the fuel!
If there's a sequel, and certainly 'The Beekeeper' sets us up for one, I don't see why the main villain can't be Alzheimer's itself. Not a metaphor, not the concept, but a literalized disease that Statham judo flips and/or machine-guns into submission

This is worded perfectly and I couldn't agree more.
Thanks, Mark!

Ha! After watching Cronenberg's Scanners (1981) this week for movie club—and I mean this in the best of ways—I'm thinking anything is possible!
Caretaking is an honor. And a torture. Write on. Fist pump!
Indeed, SB. Thanks for the encouragement!
Such an accurate depiction of the condition brought back similar memories. Praying for you all 😘
Thanks, Frances Verna!
